James specialises in commercial and property matters, advising a broad range of clients including corporates, trusts, SMEs, and private individuals.
Approachable and responsive, he takes a holistic and pragmatic approach to clients’ matters.
He draws upon the experience working at one of the world’s largest investment banks where, with stints in Zurich, Singapore, and Hong Kong, he advised clients on equity and fixed-income investments, private equity, and hedge funds.
A recipient of the Eesti Fellowship at Columbia University in New York and Summer Research Scholarship at the University of Auckland, he was an editor of The Auckland University Law Review and Public Interest Law Journal of New Zealand.
He is actively involved with community work which includes pro bono services in Mangere.
A former world-ranked sabre fencer, he now enjoys the great outdoors.
